Appendix C: Internet Explorer Support Policy

Microsoft Internet Explorer Support Policy Change:

Below are changes related to Microsoft’s Support Policy for Internet Explorer and the impact they will have regarding EMUE and the Dashboard support on Internet Explorer 8.

What is changing?

Beginning January 12, 2016, Microsoft will no longer be supporting Internet Explorer 8. After that time, Microsoft is likely to require an upgrade of the browser before addressing any errors or support issues raised to their attention. Microsoft is already recommending clients upgrade to the latest supported browser. For many of you, your IT staff may be preparing for this already.

Microsoft is also making a change to their overall policy around web browsers. They will only provide support on the latest supported browser on each operating system. For example, Microsoft recommends to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 SP1. Therefore, if you are running 8, 9 or 10 on a Windows 7 machine they will not be providing updates or support for those browsers on that operating system.

Impact on our customers using EMUE Web Scripting or the Dashboard:

Any EMUE or Dashboard errors raised to Databound occurring on Internet Explorer 8 are likely to require an upgrade of the browser to the latest version supported by Microsoft.

After January 12, 2016, Databound will test issues raised to our attention on the latest supported browsers from Microsoft. We will limit our evaluation of issues on prior, unsupported browsers like Internet Explorer 8 to critical issues only if requested by the client.

If we discover that an issue only occurs in a browser configuration that is no longer supported by Microsoft, we regret that we may not be able to address the issue on that version. In order to avoid any such uncomfortable situations, we encourage clients to begin their Internet Explorer upgrade plans now.
